Carla Hall- Owner / Stylist
Carla is the owner and a full time stylist at The Mane Attraction with over 35 years of experience in the beauty industry. Immediately after graduation in 1972 she took 1st place in a high style competition against 50 other stylists. After working in a couple of salons in the Collinsville area she decided being her own boss was the way to go. In September 1983 The Mane Attraction opened.
In 1993 she moved into her current location and became a 5 station salon. In 1998 she added a boutique and became a one stop beauty shop featuring an assortment of unique clothes, purses, shoes & jewelry.
Carla, with her thirst for knowledge and hunger to be the very best, has made it a point to be educated in and know how to provide a wide range of services. That’s why in 2003 we became The Mane Attraction Hair Studio, Boutique & Spa providing services head to toe, “If your hair skin or nails aren’t becoming to you, you should becoming to The Mane attraction” . As there are too many training seminars and hair shows to count, a few of the most recent include, Redken seminars, Chicago Midwest beauty show, Discover in St. Louis, Fashion Focus in Paducah, Sanitation and OSHA training in French Lick IN. and Premier Orlando FL. Her favorite event was Hair World in Washington DC., this is the largest international show only coming to America every 10 years.
Beauty and community are very important to Carla inside and out from legislative to the chair. This is why she has been a standing member of the NCA and chamber of commerce. Carla encourages her staff to give back to the community and charitable organizations thru various events and fund raisers, with cut-a-thons for low income students, and out of work adults, and having participated in the Look Good Feel Better program for women with cancer, just to name a few. She strives to be the best wife, mother, grandmother, boss and stylist every day.
Valerie – Manager / Stylist
Since graduating at the top of her class from Alverita’s College of Cosmetology in Edwardsville, IL in May 1999, Valerie has been a stylist at The Mane Attraction. She was promoted to manager in August 2003 and loves everything about her career, especially staying on top of all the newest trends and the best education. As truly diverse stylist “I get bored specializing in just one service so I specialize in every aspect of cosmetology.” Including, but not limited to all hair care, cutting, styling, coloring, texture services, formal styles, make-up, skin care, body waxing, manicures and pedicures.
She loves hair shows attending the Midwest beauty show in Chicago, Discover in St. Louis, Premier Orlando in FL. and Fashion Focus in Paducha every year and intense OSHA training in French Lick, IN. A standing member of the NCA (National cosmetology association) for six years other classes have been on Management, Texture, Redken color, Scruples color, Repechage skin care and facials, Satin Smooth Body waxing, Formal hair or Up Do styling, Specialized certifications include Temptu Air brush make-up, Neo Hair Extensions, Matrix Color and Pureology becoming a pureologist and then a Pure Artist, and educator for pureology the company.
When she’s not working behind the chair Valerie spends her time maintaining our website and web advertising, designing news letters, fliers and email blasts. She always looking for new ways to mark our brand and make us stand out in the beauty world.
Kathi - Hair Stylist
Kathi Lindow (Ligibel) is a 1993 graduate of Alvareita’s College of Cosmetology. She is the recipient of Pivot Point education, along with certificates in Color Specialties, Perm Dimensions, and Cutting Techniques.
Kathi had been a hair designer in the Collinsville area for 13 years. She is a previous owner of ‘Wild Tresses’ hair salon in Maryville. With that experience behind her, she learned both sides of the beauty industry.
Kathi’s passion for hair shows in each and every client that is in her chair. She attends hair shows often and loves to learn new, different, and fun techniques of hair design.
Amanda Shevlin
Amanda Shevlin graduated from Aloha Cosmetology center in 2008, and also interned at The Mane Attraction. After seeing her enthusiasm we invited her to become part of our team. She has taken countless art classes, such as painting and drawing it was this artistic side that sparked her interest in cosmetology. Since her passion is art she has become especially interested in makeup application, both air brush and traditional, creating looks from glamorous to every day to children’s character face paint. Amanda also has the craftsmanship for eccentric hair color and placement. Her imagination and know how has no boundaries and she’s very excited and anxious about attending numerous hair shows to learn everything she can about the beauty industry.
Nicci
Nicci is a graduate of Paul Mitchell The School St. Louis, completing specialty classes in cutting, color, texture, and make-up, her talents where quickly recognized earning her a place in the Phase II honors program. After graduation, she quickly found a home at The Mane Attraction starting in October of 2009. Where again she was recognized for her artistic talents and professionalism and By July of 2010 Nicci was promoted to the position of Artistic Director. Nicci has a great passion for what she does and takes every opportunity to grow and learn, she holds specialized certifications in both Temptu airbrush make-up and NEO Hair Extensions. Although she was taught the ins-and-outs of Paul Mitchell, Nicci enjoys learning more about the up and coming lines in the hair care industry and the cutting edge techniques being utilized, as well as participating in the more avant guard side of the beauty industry, participating in fashion shows and placing in competitions.
McKenzie Lehmann - Stylist
In 2009 McKenzie graduated at the top of her class from Southern Illinois School of Cosmetology. From that point on her dreams of being a top hairstylist was being to formulate into a major future possibility. Since she has graduated she has never ceased to amaze her customers. Day after day she sends home customers who look good enough to walk onto the movie set. McKenzie's work is not just in one specific area, she has the ability to adapt to the customers needs and execute the newest of haircuts and hair colors, the luxury of extensions and the relaxation of pedicures and manicures like she was born to do them. Her work is not just another job, it is a career, a love, and a passion for the industry and its customers. McKenzie has true unsurpassed passion for cosmetology; anything that can be done in the cosmetology industry can be preformed by McKenzie like a Broadway play. Jennifer Wood
Jennifer graduated with honors at Ouachita Technical College for Cosmetology, in Malvern, Arkansas. Born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas until she was 18, Jennifer then lived in Michigan for 12 years, and now lives in Troy, Illinois.
Although Certified in All Nutrient color, she is comfortable with such color lines as Redken, Matrix, and Joico, and hopes to attain those certifications in the near future.
She has been told that her hair cutting techniques are superior because she takes the time to listen to the client and has a great understanding for naturally curly hair, as well as, what will look the best on the client. Specializing in cutting and color techniques, she states that, “When cutting, it always goes back to the basics. It’s about your technique, the clients hair type, and head shape. And please leave color to the professionals.”
Her passion for makeup will set off her training with the airbrush makeup, the M.A.C. makeup line, and Bed Head makeup. She loves to stay on top of all the new trends and away from all the fashion faux pas. With all the education offered, Jennifer will rise above all “general” make-up artist and join the team of artist at the Mane Attraction and their expertise.
Jennifer started at The Mane Attraction in January 2011. Where she is excited about the endless possibilities and opportunities of learning and growing her business and clientele as well as working with Carla, Valerie, & the staff at The Mane Attraction, and looks forward to being expressive with her up-do styles for all of our Bridal events taking place this year, and anything else Carla wants to throw her way!

Diane Cole - Massage Therapist
Diane graduated from Collinsville Sanford-Brown College in 2008. After being awarded Professional Student two consecutive quarters, Diane was nominated to be the class graduating student speaker. She graduated with 1000+ hours in massage therapy, and is certified by the NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork), and state licensed as a massage therapist (LMT).
Diane not only brings to her table relaxation techniques, but also pays attention to solving problem areas. Since working with many clients with fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome, she has cultivated techniques to alleviate the pain associated with these conditions.
Since graduation she has worked in the Chiropractic and Spa Industries fulltime. Also, she has continued her education in treating headaches, stretching, and releasing the rotator cuff muscles. Because education is very important to her you will take away, from each session, ways to take care for yourself at home until you see her again.
